Drone Incident Sparks Brawl and Riot

Serbia Defeats Albania in Tense Match

A UEFA Euro 2016 qualifying match between Serbia and Albania was marred by violence on October 14, 2014. The incident began when a drone carrying a flag of Greater Albania was flown over the Partizan Stadium during the match. This sparked a brawl on the pitch and a riot off it, forcing the match to be abandoned.

The match resumed on October 18, 2014, with heavy security in place. Serbia eventually defeated Albania by a score of 2-0. The second match was largely free of tensions, thanks to the increased security and other measures put in place by UEFA.

The incident has drawn widespread condemnation from UEFA and other football authorities. UEFA has opened an investigation into the matter and has vowed to take strong action against those responsible for the violence.
