The New York Rangers have taken a commanding 2-0 lead in their Eastern Conference Second Round series against the Carolina Hurricanes. The Rangers won their sixth straight playoff game and eighth straight dating to the regular season with a 3-2 overtime victory in Game 2 on Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden.
The Rangers got their first overtime playoff win since Game 7 of the 2015 Eastern Conference Final against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Teams that lead a best-of-7 series 2-0 go on to win the series 86.2 percent of the time (351-56), including 88.6 percent (264-34) when starting at home.
The Rangers will look to take a 3-0 lead in the series when they host Game 3 on Friday night at Madison Square Garden.
