A Historic Institution with a New Home

Kino Arsenal: About the Institution

Kino Arsenal - Institut für Film und Videokunst eV is a renowned institution in Berlin, renowned for its cutting-edge offerings in film and video art. The organization operates a vibrant cinema, an extensive archive, and distribution services, while also organizing the esteemed Berlinale sections Forum and Forum Expanded.

The Name's Legacy

The institution's name, Kino Arsenal, is steeped in cinematic history. One of the inspirations behind the name was Oleksandr Dovzhenko's 1929 silent film, "Arsenal."

A New Era in Wedding

Kino Arsenal's current home at Filmhaus am Potsdamer Platz will bid farewell in 2024. However, the institution is poised to embark on an exciting new chapter as it sets up its future home in the Westhalle of the silent green Kulturquartier in Berlin-Wedding in 2026.

Enriching Berlin's Cultural Landscape

Arsenal's wide-ranging program includes international film weeks, in-depth retrospectives, homage screenings, classic film screenings, seminars, symposia, and premieres. With its relocation to Wedding, Kino Arsenal will continue to profoundly enhance Berlin's vibrant cultural scene.
